I think it’s a matter of needing a more consistent and disciplined messaging strategy (not that I’m perfect at this either) that covers not only your messaging about who you are and what your goals are, but who your adversary is and what their goals are. It reminds me of the mistake Obama made by trying to portray his Republican adversaries as willing to compromise when he first took office. He should have portrayed them as what they are. The media didn’t help the CTU either. They took one word Karen said–“serious”–and portrayed it in a manner that gave the board more credit than Karen probably intended.

I doubt if Karen was thinking that way when she used the word, but it goes back to having a messaging strategy that takes into account the impact of the language we use when addressing the media. Every word has to be deliberate.

The move by people associated with University of Chicago to shot down Dyett school was a component of disenfranchising and displacing lower and moderate residents from Bronzeville, prior to the construction of the Obama Presidential & Museum.
